knitting options

I have tried knitting a paper crown, it did turn out quite well but never got around to knitting party hats. I really don’t like the crowns that come in Christmas crackers.
I’ve looked at the wire in my jewelry supplies and just feel that crochet just wouldn’t work that smoothly, I’d get a bunch of kinks and knots that just would lead to plain old ugly.
I tried cutting up some jersey material to knit with, I soon abandoned that. I couldn’t get the right tension and it was more thick and thin, than a nice even width.
I’ve never wanted to knit with recycled plastic yarn from store bags.
Old cassette tapes intrigue me, I have lots of it but I can never envision it as a finished project or even something that I would want to own.
Maybe a purse for a recycled art show challenge or a little hat.
So recently I have seen a couple of sites that got me thinking again.
I really like the knitted wire jewelry in this book.
I also saw this website.

Spiral Ridge Socks

I decided to play with my plain sock pattern by adding texture with some purl stitches. I had 72 stitches on 2mm needles and so I added 6 purl stitches to each needle. I moved the purl stitches 3 stitches in the next row and the third row was plain. The socks spiral in each direction.
I used Fleece Artist sock seconds that I got in Victoria a few years ago.

Dare I putĀ  it in print, that I am trying to do 12 pairs of socks this year. Hope that doesn’t jinx it.

Fabric Postcards

Although I was a couple of weeks past the deadline, my postcards were finally sent out and reached their destinations.
I hosted a “Dare to be Inspired Day” in February and the deadline was the end of March. Five of us met and one of the new members guided us through the postcards.
Once I had settled on my theme, I had a good time making these up.

Just One.

I was driving home with this little package of goodness next to me. Just one to take the edge off the drive was all I needed or wanted. So I popped a caramel goodie in my mouth, yum bliss! what am I seeing besides the traffic?
The inside of the wrapper comes with words of wisdom, advice, oh oh. Now what will the next one say, ” wear matching underwear”,” read a trashy novel”, “use the good china” and there was more.

Moving Day

Today, I managed to upload my old blogs to this new account. I’ve seem to have to have lost several photos on my old blog and I have had trouble uploading them. So it was time to move. I am shocked to find I have nearly 300 blogs posted since I started this adventure.
There will be some changes to the look of the blog as I try to add bits and pieces to the sidebar.

Flowering trees.

Signs of spring. This magnolia can be seen from the bedroom window and from the breakfast nook downstairs as well. At last, I have given up on wearing my ski coat, the temperature has been in the double digits (C) for the past week. I don’t want to put in my plants too early, I am very cautious before the May 21st weekend but I did buy parsley and rosemary to go with my chives that are growing well.
Project Spectrum has suggested a picture facing north. So that is my Northern view.
